Homeschool Days and Field Trip Ideas

 The Pioneer Settlement

It is a great place to visit so that the kids can learn about pioneer history.  The field trips are guided tours which is really cool and the kids participate in many activities, such as candle making, weaving, Spinning, Blacksmithing or Woodworking, Butter Making and a visiting the Farm. They can tend bees for honey, use tools in the turn-of-the-century kitchen; eat a cake, that they make “from scratch,” and dowse for water or they can learn about Seminole patchwork, Seminole legends, the Eight Clans, how to weave palmettos, create a pinch pot and taste sofkee. It all depends on which tour we choose.
