Dining Out as a Family

We go to eat out as a family to  Chick -Fil-A, Wendys,  Mc Donalds, KFC, and buy Rotissery chicken from Publix. On splurge days we go to Steak and Shake.
My hubby and I  have been enjoying treating the kids on individual basis to eat out.

I worked for a year setting Disney Dining reservations. These are locations that were most favored by Disney guests:

Young Composers Challenge

Young Composers Challenge

Prepare before March 3.

The Competition for 2014 will take place in California. The year 2013 had a great opportunity when it was done in Orlando. We'll have to wait for another time when it comes back to Orlando. Check yearly!

2013 National Young Composers Workshop East

In a FREE full-day workshop on Saturday, March 16th, young musicians, ages 13 to 18, will have a unique opportunity to learn from nationally acclaimed composers how to write music for orchestra or chamber ensemble. In addition to lectures and presentations, instrument demonstrations will be given by top orchestra musicians.
The workshop will be held at the UCF Center for the Emerging Media, 500 West Livingston Street, Orlando. All music students are encouraged to attend. The workshop is available on a first-come first-served basis and only a limited number will be allowed to attend, so register now!
Please help us get the word out about this unique opportunity for young musicians. If you know music students or educators, please forward this announcement. Who knows? You may be helping to create the next young Mozart or Beethoven!

2013 Composium East

The Young Composers Challenge Composium, the premier US national composition event, will take place on Sunday afternoon, March 17th, 2:00pm to 5:30pm at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, in Orlando, Florida.

Winning contestants, ages 13 to 18, representing states from coast to coast, will be some of the most prominent future composers of the 21st century. You will have a chance to see their compositions performed for the first time on stage by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

This free concert is sponsored by the University of Central Florida, Rollins College, Full Sail University, The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Goldman Charitable Trust.

This event should not be missed. Please forward this email to every music lover you know, young and old.

For more information, please visit www.youngcomposerschallenge.org

HOW IT WORKS

1. ATTEND THE WORKSHOP

All young musicians are invited to participate in an optional free full-day workshop. Two workshops are offered each year - the Workshop East held in Orlando in the Spring, and the Workshop West held in the San Francisco Bay Area in the Fall. The workshops are open to any young musician, age 13 to 18, interested in learning how to write music. Workshop participants must register in order to attend one of the workshops. Workshops are available on a first-come first-serve basis and only a limited number will be allowed to attend, so register early!
Attendees will learn the principles of composition, orchestration, music notation, scoring software, and MIDI technology from nationally-recognized composers. Demonstrations of each orchestral instrument by top professional musicians will be provided, along with tips for writing for those instruments. Entrants who have already written music may bring their compositions for feedback. For other entrants, bring your ideas and talent — and then learn how to compose! Workshop attendees are not required to enter compositions in the contest.

2. WRITE A SCORE

Write an original score — either for full orchestra or for chamber ensemble. All compositions should be no longer than 5 minutes. Full orchestra compositions must be written for standard orchestra instrumentation (see guidelines). Chamber ensemble compositions may be written for 2 to 6 instruments. Competition entrants are not required to have attended a workshop.

3. SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY

After you finish your composition, make a MIDI recording of it. Or, if you prefer, you can make a regular audio-recording (e.g., as played on a piano, etc.). Then submit your recording and four copies of the score, along with anentry cover letter (PDF). The judges will review all entries and select three full orchestra compositions and three ensemble compositions. Submission deadlines for each Composium are listed in the schedule below.
Note: The next Composiums are not scheduled until March and October of 2013. However, you may submit compositions at any time before the deadlines listed in the table below. You may be older than 18 at the time of the Composium as long as you were 18 years or younger at the time your entry was submitted.

4. ATTEND THE COMPOSIUM

Each Spring, six winning compositions (three orchestral and three ensemble) will be selected for performance by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra at the Composium East, held at the Bob Carr Auditorium in Orlando, FL.
Each Fall, six winning compositions (three orchestral and three ensemble) will be selected for performance by the Marin Symphony at the Composium West held at the Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium in San Rafael, CA.
Each winner will receive a cash prize and a professional recording of the performance. Winners must attend.
